Student & University Training Program

At our East Texas clinics, we proudly support students pursuing careers in Speech‑Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy by offering high‑quality, hands‑on practicum and fieldwork opportunities. Our Student & University Training Program provides a supportive, real‑world environment where students learn while serving children and families in underserved communities.

We partner with universities, community colleges, and technical programs across Texas to offer practicum placements, clinical rotations, internships, and observation hours for SLP/ SLPA / OTR /OTA, and related fields.

We welcome student placements from a variety of institutions, including but not limited to:

East Texas and Regional Universities

• University of Texas at Tyler
• Stephen F. Austin State University (Nacogdoches)
• Texas Woman’s University
• University of Texas at Dallas (Callier Center programs)

Community Colleges

• Tyler Junior College (TJC)
• Panola College (Carthage) 
• Northeast Texas Community College

Online and Hybrid Programs

We also accept students from accredited online graduate programs requiring in‑person clinical placements, pending availability.

If your school is not listed, you may still apply — we regularly add new university affiliations.

Students gain exposure to a variety of pediatric clients, including:

• AAC users (English/Spanish)
• Children with autism
• Childhood apraxia of speech
• Sensory‑processing and motor‑planning challenges
• Fine‑motor, visual‑motor, and ADL skill development
• Multicultural and bilingual families

Our clinics provide:

• High‑tech AAC expertise
• Sensory‑integration‑informed occupational therapy
• Motor‑planning approaches for speech and OT
• Parent coaching and family‑centered care

Students are expected to:

• Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality
• Maintain communication with supervisors
• Follow clinic policies and procedures
• Show initiative and be receptive to feedback
• Track required hours and university documentation

Step 2: Wait for confirmation that your materials were received.
Step 3:🔸 After you submit your practicum application, you are responsible for following up with our Office Manager, Tonya Butter, regarding scheduling and application status.
